EUCHARISTIC LITURGY – Communion: The Lord’s Prayer

The celebrant invites all the congregation to join together with him in praying the Lord’s Prayer in preparation for Holy Communion:

   Oremus.
Praeceptis salutaribus moniti, et divina institutione formati, audemus dicere:

   Let us pray.
Taught by your saving precepts and guided by the divine institution, we make bold to say:

Extending his hands, the celebrant continues:

Celebrant: Pater noster, qui es in caelis: Sanctificetur nomen tuum: Adveniat regnum tuum: Fiat voluntas tua, sicut in caelo, et in terra. Panem nostrum quotidianum da nobis hodie: Et dimitte nobis debita nostra, sicut et nos dimittmus debitoribus nostris. Et ne nos inducas in tentationem.
   r. Sed libera nos a malo.
   Celebrant: Amen.

Celebrant: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation.
   r. But deliver us from evil.
   Celebrant: Amen.

He then proceeds silently to paraphrase his last request:

Deliver us, we beseech you, O Lord, from all evils, past, present and to come, and by the intercession of the blessed and glorious ever Virgin Mary, Mother of God, together with your blessed apostles Peter and Paul, and Andrew, and all the saints, mercifully grant peace in our days: that through the bounteous help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and secure from all disturbance. Through the same Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God , world without end.

The celebrant raises his voice when saying the last words, that all the congregation may associate themselves with his prayer by answering: Amen.
