The first prayer after the Sanctus is an offering of the gifts in the suppliant form of a plea for gracious acceptance.
The celebrant bows low, kisses the altar, and asks God through Jesus Christ to accept our offerings, making over them three signs of the cross:
Te igitur, clementissime Pater, per Jesum Christum Filium tuum Dominum nostrum, supplices rogamus, ac petimus, uti accepta habeas, et benedicas, haec ✠ dona, haec ✠ munera, haec ✠ sancta sacrificia illibata.
We therefore humbly pray and beseech you, O most merciful Father, through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord, that you would vouchsafe to receive and bless these ✠ gifts, these ✠ offerings, these ✠ holy and unblemished sacrifices.
