The Profession of Faith follows the Gospel reading (and Homily, if there is one). It is the Creed of the First Council of Nicea (A.D. 325) revised by the Council of Constantinople (A.D. 381). (It is said on Sundays, on feasts of apostles and doctors who taught it, and such festivals as attracted large attendance.)
Celebrant. Credo in unum Deum,
All. Patrem omnipotentem, factorem caeli et terrae, visibilium omnium, et invisibilium.
Et in unum Dominum Jesum Christum, Filium Dei unigenitum.
Et ex Patre natum ante omnia saecula.
Deum de Deo, lumen de lumine, Deum verum de Deo vero.
Genitum, non factum, consubstantialem Patri: per quem omnia facta sunt.
Qui propter nos homines et propter nostram salutem descendit de caelis.
Celebrant. I believe in one God,
All. the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God;
Born of the Father before all ages;
God of God, light of light, true God of true God;
Begotten, not made; being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.
Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven.
The celebrant (and all) kneel and adore the Word made flesh.

Celebrant (and All). And was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary; and was made man.

Et ascendit in caelum: sedet ad dexteram Patris.

Celebrant (and All). He was crucified also for us, suffered under Pontius Pilate, and was buried.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life.
