The celebrant, continuing the account of institution, picks up the chalice of wine, blesses it, and prays:
Simili modo postquam coenatum est, accipiens et hunc praeclarum calicem in sanctas ac venerabilis manus suas: item tibi gratias agens, benedixit ✠ deditque discipulis suis, dicens: Accipite et bibite ex eo omnes. Hic est enim Calix Sanguinis mei, novi et aeterni testamenti: mysterium fidei: que pro vobis et pro multis effundetur in remissionem peccatorum.
Haec quotiescumque feceritis, in mei memoriam facietis.
In like manner, after he had supped, taking also this excellent chalice into his holy and venerable hands and giving thanks to you, he blessed ✠ and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and drink all of you of this, for this is the Chalice of my Blood, of the new and eternal testament: the mystery of faith: which shall be shed for you and for many for the remission of sins.
As often as you shall do these things, you shall do them in remembrance of me.
The celebrant then genuflects, reverencing the chalice of consecrated of wine, (the server ringing the bell), and raises it high enough so that the congregation behind him can see and reverence it as well, (the server again ringing the bell.)
The celebrant then places the chalice of consecrated wine on the altar and again reverences it by genuflecting, (the server ringing the bell a third time).
