At Low Mass the celebrant kneels on one of the altar steps; with the server and congregation he says the following prayers prescribed by Pope Leo XIII in 1884 for the liberty of the Church:
Ave Maria, gratia plena, Dominus tecum; benedicta tu in mulieribus, et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
r. Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, ora pro nobis peccatoribus, nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
r. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The prayer is said three times, followed by:
Salve, Regina, Mater misericordiae; vita, dulcedo et spes nostra salve. Ad te clamamus, exsules filii Evae. Ad te suspiramus gementes et flentes in hac lacrimarum valle. Eia ergo, advocata nostra, illos tuos misericordes oculos ad nos converte. Et Jesum, benedictum fructum ventris tui, nobis, post hoc exsilium, ostende. O clemens, o pia, o dulcis Virgo Maria.
Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genitrix.
r. Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi.
Hail holy Queen, Mother of mercy; our life, our sweetness and our hope. to thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us. And after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

O God, our refuge and our strength look down in mercy on your people who cry to you; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of blessed Joseph her spouse, of your blessed apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the saints, in mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conversion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of our holy Mother the Church. The following invocation, said three times, was added in 1908 by Pope Pius X:

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus,

In 1930, Pope Pius XI decreed that these prayers were to be said for Russia.
